Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), the well-known manufacturer of computer hardware components, announced today a new worldwide PC modding competition named Modmen. Besides ECS, the new modding contest is supported and sponsored by Thermaltake and G.Skill. The main point of this competition is to ignite the creativity and skills of the world’s best modding enthusiasts in search of ECS’ Modmen of the year, whose work will impress both the Judging Panel and regular viewers.
The prize fund of Elitegroup’s Modmen competition is really impressive, see for yourself: the winer will become a Taiwan millionaire, getting exactly one million in taiwan dollars (which is approximately US $33,333), top 5 modders will get a US $1,000 in cash plus a set of prizes from Thermaltake & G.Skill and a trip to Taipei, Taiwan for the final at Computex 2013. But thats not all — modding enthusiasts that will be ranked from sixth to tenth place will also get a set of prizes from Thermaltake & G.Skill, namely a computer case, power supply, CPU cooler, RAM kit and a SSD. There also is an “Audience Award” — the modder with most votes will receive US $1,000.
The registration process for participants is already opened and will be so till February 28, 2013. The Modmen competition will consist of two stages: the first stage will be an online competition on which top ten modding project will be chosen, while the second stage will be held at Taipei’s Computex 2013, where top five modding project will compete for the grand prize. It should be noted that one of the competition rules says, that to be eligible for the contest contenders must use a ECS branded motherboard, purchased after September 20, 2012 (or have a ECS Golden Board series motherboard, since timeframe restrictions do not apply to them), in their modding project.
